Orthodontics & Clear Aligner Therapy

For many patients with crooked, misaligned teeth or malocclusion, orthodontics are the best choice to achieve a comfortable bite and attractive smile. Traditional metal braces, however, aren’t always an ideal option when it comes to moving teeth and dealing with food restrictions, comfort, appearance, and maintenance. At The Avenue Dental we have helped plenty of patients who desire the benefits of an IDEAL SMILE, but don’t want to wear braces. For these patients, we recommend clear aligner therapy as a wonderful alternative to metal braces.

How Does Clear Aligner Orthodontics Work?

Clear aligner orthodontics work similarly to metal braces — by gradually aligning teeth, but with clear, plastic aligner trays, rather than metal brackets. Treatment begins with a digital scan of the mouth and measurements which are sent to an orthodontic lab. The specs are loaded into a computer, which produces a 3D model that outlines how the patient’s teeth need to move over time in order to achieve the desired results. This 3D model is then reviewed with the patient so they may see the step by step process prior to starting treatment and how their teeth will appear when finished with treatment. Along with Dr Nazli, this model serves as the basis and schedule for the aligner trays produced for the patient. Each aligner in their series is worn for one to two weeks before moving onto the next.

How Long Does Clear Aligner Therapy Take?

If you’re wondering when to start orthodontic treatment, knowing how long your alignment will take can be helpful with scheduling. The length of your treatment will depend on your specific alignment goals and the current condition of your teeth. The average clear aligner case takes 6 months with very little interruption in lifestyle. Simple cases take 3 to 4 months, where more difficult ones may take up to 12 months. With this technology and experienced doctors, we can achieve amazing changes to your smile in a short period of time.

Are Orthodontics Covered by Insurance?

If you’re wondering how much clear orthodontics will cost, it depends on the extent of the alignment being completed(the number of aligner trays required and months to complete treatment) and your insurance benefits. Most dental insurance policies will cover about 50% of the cost of orthodontics and the treatment costs range on average from $3500 to $4,500. Thus, for a few thousand dollars out of pocket expense, you may have the smile of your dreams. We can work with you and your dental insurance company to help determine the total costs before committing to treatments with clear aligner therapy and phase payments over time if needed.
